Remarkable care from remarkable people.
The people of United Methodist Homes are what makes us special. These skilled professionals put their hearts in to the work they do and establish close relationships with our residents. We’d like you to meet a few of them.

I’ve worked here almost since the beginning of my career. I meet wonderful people here – residents, resident families, and staff. Our staff really do care about people. Some residents have no family left, so one of the most positive things about my job is making people smile. Working here is rewarding because of the residents. I look forward to a long career at United Methodist Homes, and would like to retire from here.

When I started in long-term care, I was young — I thought it would just be a job, and I thought it would be easy. It’s not, but I love it. I’ve learned so much from residents: from their personal experiences, their lives, their stories, their different personalities. It’s changed my perspective on life in general – it makes you think about things twice, and realize what’s important. I didn’t think I would get attached to residents, or find a way to connect with those with dementia. You find a way to make everyone smile, be happy, and have a good day. I would recommend working at Hilltop. The kindness and cooperation of everyone – residents and staff – is amazing. Everyone is a name and not a number. I love the fact that I can make a difference every minute. I’m blessed to have a job here.

Before I came here, I worked in a chiropractor’s office, doing secretarial work and some therapy. I like providing hands-on care better. I got my PCA training right here with the director of nursing. I love taking care of the elderly and helping them feel like someone cares for them. I feel most successful when I can put a smile on a resident’s face, even if that person is having a rough day. This is a great place to work, and you really get to know everyone.

Receptionist, Wesley Village Campus
Employee since 1987
In my role, I’m often the first person people meet on campus or by phone, whether they’re prospective residents, family members or visitors. I know a move to senior living can be a difficult decision, whether you’re looking for yourself or are helping a loved one, so I try to treat people the way I’d want to be treated. I remember helping my elderly parents, and I know that makes a difference. Working here is a family atmosphere – it’s like home, and we care for one another. I find that I get attached to residents and family members. Wesley Village has a lot to offer its staff – the Homes is a fair employer. I think they’re very good to us.
