Palliative and Respite Care

Palliative (End-of-Life) Care
An interdisciplinary approach to care that focuses on improving quality of life for patients with terminal conditions at the end of their lives. Emphasis is placed on comfort measures, pain management and symptom management rather than aggressive, curative measures.

Respite Care
Care provided in an adult care or skilled nursing facility for 30 days or less, designed to give caregivers a rest while the elderly individual is cared for in an appropriate environment.
